Frozen to become Disney ice-dancing show

In what was probably the shortest forward planning meeting in Disney on Ice's history, Frozen has been selected as the next movie to become an ice-dancing spectacular.
The film smashed the record set by Toy Story 3 to become the highest-grossing animation ever, with $1.2bn worldwide, and with its tale of a country turned to ice it's the perfect candidate for the spinoff show. The New York Times reports that the show will feature 39 performers and 20 snow machines to create an artificial blizzard, along with a snowflake-shaped stage.
 The show's producer, Nicole Feld, said the show "will make kids and their parents feel like they are actually trekking up those mountains and experiencing the storm inside Elsa," referring to the princess whose out-of-control magic freezes her kingdom.
John Lasseter, the director of Toy Story who is now Disney's chief creative officer, said: "It means so much to us that they're creating the show with all of the heart, humor and beauty of Frozen that audiences fell in love with." The show begins in Florida on September 5, and will likely transfer worldwide.
Following the multimillion-selling soundtrack album to the Olaf Tea Set, it's the latest expansion of the Frozen universe, which we can expect to be with us for some time yet. When asked earlier this month how long the film's popularity would last, Disney's chief executive Robert A. Iger said "You can expect us to take full advantage of that over the next five years, I would guess."
