Upcoming Animated Movies 2014, 2015 and 2016

Upcoming Animated Movies 2014, 2015 and 2016:

How to Train Your Dragon 2

Release Date: June 13, 2014

One of our surprise favorites in recent years, How to Train Your Dragon is getting a sequel this summer and we couldn’t be more amped. The return of Hiccup and Toothless means not only the return of breathtaking animated dragon dog-fighting, but also the return of that dangerous beast known as feelings.
We’re hoping that How to Train Your Dragon 2 offers the same mix of animated action and character insight that the original did.

SpongeBob SquarePants 2
Release Date: feb 3, 2015

Probably the most enduring kid’s television cartoon of late – it’s been on the air for 15 (!) years – it’s hard to believe that it’ll have been almost 11 years since David Hasselhoff first washed up on the shores of the original SpongeBob movie.
But the return of SpongeBob, Squidward, Patrick, Mr. Krabs and the rest will be most welcome, of course, whenever they should choose to emerge from that pineapple under the sea and onto the big screen.

Finding Dory

Release Date: June 17, 2016

While Pixar had already had a great many successes under its belt by 2003 – most notably the two Toy Story movies – Finding Nemo took the studio to a whole new level and quickly became its highest grossing movie. It would remain as such until 2010, when Pixar’s own Toy Story 3 surpassed it. However, that record might not stand for long once the sequel hits in 2016.

Angry Birds

Release Date: July 1, 2016

The latest cultural phenomenon to wind up with a feature film, Angry Birds will hit the silver screen in 2016. While the narrative possibilities of Angry Birds appear nebulous, the inclusion of Despicable Me producer John Cohen is promising, and we’ve seen great movies based on properties with questionable story elements before – just look at the recent LEGO Movie.
More intriguingly, the Angry Birds movie is being financed outside of the usual Hollywood studio system, instead coming directly from Angry Birds creators Rovio.
